Arkhangelsk Youth Theatre is one of the discoverers of the festival movement in the Arkhangelsk region. The Theatre carries the oldest in Russia, International Street Theatre Festival (in June 2010, the theater held XVI-th Festival). In 2004, the Youth Theatre has decided to create a new music and theater festival with the working title of "European Spring", which would be understandable and accessible to all audiences in our region. Mini-festival "European Spring" held for the first time in Archangel in 2004. The festival presents the most interesting musical groups from Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Russia, which mix the theatre with music.

Holding such festivals would help cross-cultural communication between Russia and other countries as well as the restoration of ties with the former Soviet Union.

So, in 2005 it was decided to re-organize the festival "European Spring", which again brought renowned artists and appreciative audiences. In March 2005, in Arkhangelsk, hosted the II International Music'n Theatre Festival "European Spring". The festival was also dedicated to the 30-year anniversary of the Arkhangelsk Regional Youth Theatre.

In 2008 the festival became the annual event. The Youth Theatre aspires each time to invite companies who can present to the public the mixed art of theatre and musical elements.

In 2009 the "European spring" was dedicated to the 35-year anniversary of the Youth Theatre.

From the beginning of the festival it welcomed 16 companies from France, the Czech Republic, Poland, China and Russia.
